SCHOOL: Mitchell Community College, Statesville, NC

YEARS IN FBLA/PBL SERVICE: 2

MAJOR/EXPERTISE: Associate of Arts, Pre-History

BACKGROUND: I have been involved in many community-oriented activities. In Girl Scouts, I receved the Silver Star Award. This is the second highest award given to scouts recognizing a future community leader. I served on the SGA as the Special Populations Officer. I recently graduated from the Student Leadership Development Program, which is run by the North Carolina Community College Systems Office. I was the 2011-2012 NCPBL Western Region Vice President. I am currently the Mitchell Community College PBL Chapter President.

PERSONAL NCPBL GOAL: To keep the lines of communication open to all chapters throughout the state, state officers, executive council, national officers, FBLA, and the Professional Division. I will contact each chapter throughout the year to find out what events are happening and offer my assistance if needed. I would like to promote PBL in communities and businesses throughout the state. I would also like to promote CMAP, Membership Madness, and Membership Mania participants.

Congratulations NCPBL

Attending IFL and NLC was a very exciting experience. I learned a lot as a Leadership Intern at IFL. I learned how to use social media to as a business professional. I also learned how to work with a team comprised of members from across the country. Representing North Carolina on stage at the opening session of NLC was a very emotional experience. To know that, you the members, elected me as your president for the upcoming year means more to me than you will ever realize. I had goose bumps as the announcer called my name. I am truly honored to be representing such a great state and even greater members.  Being able to talk about what NCPBL has done over the past year and looking forward to over the next year in sixty seconds is pretty tough. We have accomplished so many great and wonderful things as a state. I had an extremely hard time deciding what to talk about. I would like to thank everyone who helped me with my speech.

I would like to let everyone know how proud I am of all of you. I was able to talk to Gene Buckley and she said how wonderful NC is and that we are one of her favorites. She told me that she was able to talk to a lot of the NCPBL members and that we were all extremely polite and professional when talking to her. She told me to wish all of you luck on the coming year and to congratulate all of the award winners. Speaking of winners, congratulations to everyone who either won an award and attended IFL and/or NLC. I want to thank all of the advisors and Professional Division-Foundation, Inc. members who worked so hard and helped the NCPBL members shine at IFL and NLC. Without this help, NCPBL would not be what it is today. Please take a moment to thank your advisor and Professional-Division Foundation, Inc. members for all of their support and sacrifices for NCPBL.

The 2012-2013 PBL year is well underway for your officer team. We have extremely exciting news to share with all of you at the Fall Kick-Offs! I hope you like the new website, Facebook page, and Twitter account. If you need anything please feel free to contact me by email, text message, and/or phone call. I am willing to help you, the members of NCPBL, in any way possible. Have a great summer and I look forward to hearing from all of you.
