University of Mount Olive - Spring 2019

UMO PBL Partners with Chamber of Commerce

On November 30, 2018, UMO’s Phi Beta Lambda partnered with Julie Beck, President of the Mount Olive Area Chamber of Commerce, to assist with the annual Town of Mount Olive Christmas Tree lighting.  Our members coordinated the children’s area at the Mount Olive Christmas Event. The members of PBL helped the children decorate sugar cookies, roast marshmallows, and gave out PBL-donated activity books. The children and parents favored roasting marshmallows requesting to roast more than one! Many children had never roasted a marshmallow before!

University of Mount Olive - Fall 2015

The University of Mount Olive's Zeta Epsilon chapter of Phi Beta Lambda has had a busy beginning to the new school year. We elected new officers for the 2015-2016 school year and are ready to get down to business. We held a recruitment booth at our campus student involvement fair and had a good turnout of new, interested members at our first chapter meeting. Several players on the men's volleyball team and other athletes were present and showed a lot of interest at the meeting. We are also working on recruiting members from our satellite campuses to join our chapter. We had students attend the annual NC PBL Kick Off at Southeastern Community College, which provided us a lot of useful information on the events that are taking place this year. We are working on setting up community service projects as well as fundraisers to attend FLDC in Greensboro. We are eager and ready to see what great opportunities await us with Phi Beta Lambda this year.

Mount Olive College - Fall 2013

Mount Olive was represented by two students, our adviser Sonya O’Brien, and Dr. Norm Crumpacker, MOC PD-F member at the PBL kick-off meeting on Thursday, September 19, at Barton College.  We have many new members this year so the information shared was helpful in understanding how PBL works.

Our chapter recently elected new officers for 2013-2014.  This gave our new members an opportunity to be more involved in our chapter’s leadership.  Currently, we are having multiple fundraisers in order to go to the NC PBL FLDC on November 1st and 2nd in Greensboro, North Carolina. We are having a bake sale in the dorms and Phi Beta Lambda will be going from room to room selling delicious baked goods, like brownies and cookies.

Mount Olive College PBL's New Officers Ignite Excitement

To start our 2012-2013 PBL year off our Mount Olive College chapter began with officer elections. We nominated several new faces into our officer ranks. These new officers bring fresh ideas, energy, and excitement to our chapter. This year we have attended the NCPBL Kick off at Barton College and we are planning on attending the Fall Leadership Development Conference. We are currently participating in fundraisers to help reduce the costs of the upcoming conferences. Within the next month we anticipate being very active with fundraisers, community service projects, and taking part in an activity for American Enterprise day. We have been very successful in recruiting new members and we hope that this success will continue into the future.
